Alford Letters

An Album entitled Autographs with Lady Marianne Alford's Monogram, Library XLVII.D.3

Enclosed within are possibly 200 or so letters mainly addressed to Lady Marian, Viscountess Alford. The Belton resrach Group have transcribed over 80 of these. The legibility of the handwriting is variable [] or ? is given where it is undecipherable.

The letters have been mounted probably during the time of the 5th Baron Brownlow. There is a handy index with the identification of the writer. Sometimes an envelope is provided.

The table below lists the senders in chronological order where a date is supplied. The Sender box can filter according to name.
